After receiving an MS and BS from the University of Tokyo, worked at Mizuho Securities and Mizuho Trust Bank. Received my PhD from the Graduate School of Economics, University of Tokyo. Selected as a research fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2016. After working as a researcher at the Center for International Research on the Japanese Economy, joined the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research from 2020 to 2025.
Taisuke Nakata graduated with B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University in 2012. He worked as assistant economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 2003 to 2007. He worked as economist, senior economist, and principal economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 2012 to 2020. He has been an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Economics and the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Tokyo since 2020. He was a member of the “COVID-19 AI & Simulation Project” assembled by the Cabinet Office of Japan from 2021 to 2023, conducting various empirical and simulation-based policy analyses related to the COVID-19 crisis. His area of expertise is macroeconomics, monetary policy, and pandemic policies.
